I have so many fond memories of growing up with Leroy . We played for the Ramey Cowboys and Harold Brasfield coached us along with help from Leroy's dad whom worked for Ms Bairds Bread. In high school Leroy was my debate partner. As Leroy always said, and correctly so, he did all the work and I took all the credit when we won! Hah !
Leroy and I both went to UT for college and stayed in contact over the years. His sudden and tragic death remind us how fragile life is.

I use to say to him, Leroy boy your my friend.  He was always smiling and had such a good personality.  I went to his memorial in Longview.  It was very touching.  His sister, Karen, died a few years later.  I miss them both.

Leroy was a treasured friend.  We stood in the graduation line side by side and laughed and talked about so many things but the one I remember best was the comment about not having the gold tassles! He so deserved it! He was one of the sharpest in our class and just got missed in the political process for making that "Honor Roll" list.  It didn't stop him from continuing to reach and achieve.  He proved himself and made it to be School Suprintendent in Van and then Corpus Christi! For Leroy, the Gold Tassle is now a Gold Star in the Sky!

Leroy you made us all very proud!  Miss you and wish you could be at the reunion to tell and share stories but you will definitely be part of our memories always!

I remember Leroy introducing me to "The Wild, Wild West" TV show in his hospital room after his appendix surgery. I'm still a fan, except for the dufis Will Smith version. When I hired on at Chapel Hill Middle School, Leroy had already left, but when I mentioned to the "principal" who replaced him, that he and I were friends, she got scared off from harrassing me. I last say Leroy and his wife at the Tyler mall a few months before his plane crash. We had a very nice conversation. He always tried to find something to put a smile on your face.
