Clayton Brooks

Born on August 18, 1953, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to the parentage of Clayton Lee Brooks, Sr. and Helen Rose White Brooks, Clayton, Jr. transitioned on October 4, 2016, in Plano, Texas. He was 63 years in age. 

Clayton graduated from John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas. He went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University where he majored in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing. Clayton established his career as an agency owner with State Farm Insurance. 

Clayton married his childhood sweetheart, Linda Crawford, on January 24, 1976. Their union was blessed with two wonderful sons. At an early age, he accepted Christ at College Hill Baptist Church where his father pastored. While Clayton remained a member there until his transition, he also attended Greater El Bethel Church of God in Christ in Garland, Texas. 

Clayton enjoyed many hobbies, including all sports. He especially enjoyed basketball and the play of his favorites, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. He also delighted in reading, NASCAR, and building model cars. 

Clayton was predeceased by his parents. Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife of 40 years, Linda; son, Philip Brooks and his wife Make; son, Micah Brooks; goddaughter, Aiyanna Beaird; brother, Benjamin F. Brooks and his wife Reta; brother, Timothy Brooks; sister, Jennifer Tennyson and her husband JT; brother, Eugene Brooks; nieces and nephews: Benjamin F. Brooks, Jr., Kendra Brooks Tucker, Courtney Brooks, Jaylen Tennyson, and Jesera Tennyson; great-nephew, Caleb Brooks; great-niece, Nyla Brooks; his last living aunts: Weise Lee of Houston, Texas, Doris Huely of Gary, Indiana, and Christine Carter Jasper, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends on Friday, October 7, 2016, from 6 to 8 pm at Chamberland Funerals & Cremations. Celebrations of life will be held at 11 am Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Garland and 4 pm Saturday, October 8, 2016, at College Hill Baptist Church in Tyler.
