Greg was the first kid I got to know after moving here in 3rd grade. The teacher had assigned us to write a paragraph. The other kids were messing around. Like the obediant student I was, I did my work. The teacher chastized the class for not working, I raised my hand and said I was finished with the assignment. When the teacher turned away, Greg then ran over to my desk, grabbed my paper, threw it on the floor and stomped it to pieces. I then realized that kids in Tyler were not like kids where I had been in school. We became friends and attended church together as adults. Greg was a good guy and family man.

Greg was a 2nd(?) cousin of mine and though we rarey saw one another, our family was huge, we enjoyed spending time with one another during the holidays when we did see each other. He also attended my girlfriend's and my grandmother's church, so we enjoyed each other's company then too. I wish I had gotten to know him better, but I guess that's the way it is with large families. Even many years went by before I knew he had passed away.  My family moved around so much, I found out late about many relatives passing away. At times I feel ashamed about it, but what can one do with such a large famiy and your own being transient all the time.
