On November 13, 2024, the world lost a truly vibrant soul, David Kenneth Ray. Born on November 10, 1952, in Tyler, TX David's life was a tapestry woven with love and laughter. Though his journey on this earth has come to an end, his story will continue to echo within the hearts of those who knew him.
David was the kind of guy who lived life full throttle. His words, "I'll sleep when I'm dead," became a mantra that guided him through 72 years of rich, unforgettable experiences. From the refineries of Port Neches-Neches Butane, Texaco, Huntsman, to TPC-his dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression on his colleagues over a remarkable 42-year career. His work family came to know him not just as a coworker, but as a friend you could always count on.
His fiercely loyal heart belonged, above all, to his family and friends. To his beloved wife, Denise, he was a devoted husband for an incredible 50 years. Together, they built a life full of adventure and deep love. To his daughters, Crystal and Amber, who thrived under the endless love and support of their dad, David was a hero. He was present and cheering at every milestone, despite the demanding nature of his job. He was always present for his girls.
Preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Lively, his father, Granddaddy John Willis Ray, and his brother, John Paul Ray, David is survived by a family who cherished him deeply: his sister Sharon Sukiennik, his daughters Crystal Ray Broussard and Amber Ray-Droddy, and of course, his cherished life partner, Denise Ray.
In the style true to his nature, David didn't want a traditional funeral. So instead of a somber event, we will hold a celebration of life which will be a big party. This will take place after the new year, where laughter and stories of David will fill the room-a fitting tribute to a man who embraced life at every turn.
