Steven Dean Smuts Steven Dean Smuts was born on July 14, 1953 in Elmira, New York. He passed away with his family by his side on March 6, 2013 after a year-long battle with lung cancer. He was 59. Steve is survived by his wife of 10 years, Lola Jean Minyard-Smuts, sons Jason Smuts and David Gunnels and daughters Stephanie Smuts and Makayla Gunnels, grandchildren Hilarie, Olivia and Jake, brother, Mike Smuts and sister Suzette Smuts-Key. A Memorial Celebration will be held at Steve's home at 2608 Cypress Lane, Cedar Park, Texas, 78613, on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 3:00 pm.
