Really it has been hard to post, I was hoping a cure would have come for you. I was so hopeful. I am glad we visited at the cancer center.

I remember Homemaking, dragging broadway, BBrigade at ballgames and on the bus to the games. Even remember you and Glenn dating. When you and I worked at Tyler State College, we were still close. Our lives took us away,but we still were friends. 

I am so proud to say you were my friend. I will miss u.

Memorial services for Debbie Phillips, 59, of Kilgore will be 2 pm Friday, July 1, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Kilgore with Reverend David Hampton officiating.  There will be a private burial prior to the memorial service in Bullard Cemetery.  Mrs. Phillips passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, surrounded by family and loved ones.

 

Debbie was born December 20, 1952 in Tyler, Texas to Chester and Lavenia Yancy.  She was a 1971 graduate of John Tyler High School, where she was Twirl Major of the Blue Brigade.  Debbie married Glenn D. Phillips three days after her high school graduation on May 29, 1971.  Together they attended Tyler Junior College while Debbie worked for Stephen F. Austin State University as well as Tyler State College.  Debbie earned her court reporting certificate at Alvin Community College.  She and Glenn moved to Kilgore in 1983.  Debbie was a devoted and loving mother, serving many years on the PTA for children which lead her to run for the KISD School Board.  She was a trustee on the school board from 1995 to 2007.  Debbie was a member of the Xi Pi Mu of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, as well as KIBA and Kilgore Garden Club.

 

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Judge Glenn D. Phillips of Kilgore; a son, Cheston Glenn Phillips of Kilgore; two daughters, Donna Ann and her husband, Josiah Wood of Plano, Lana Dee Phillips of Dallas; parents, Chester and Lavenia Yancy of New Chapel Hill, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam and Ron Horton of Ben Wheeler, Cathy and Donny Davis of Canton, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
