Comments:

After TJC, left school to get married and start what was supposed to be a 9-month temp job with ARCO Oil and Gas which ended up lasting 15 years. I was transferred to Alaska, Colorado, California and then back to Texas where I decided to leave the business in the mid-80's and pursue my passion, which was law enforcement. Went to the police academy and became a peace officer in 1987 working for the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. Joined DeSoto PD (DFW area) in 1989. Wanted to become a police chief so I went back to college and finished my Bachelor's degree at Dallas Baptist University and then went on to Sam Houston State to earn my Master's degree in Law Enforcement Administration in 1997. Became a police chief in 2000 in central Texas and then Mount Pleasant as police chief from January 2005 to December 2011. On December 5, 2011 I became police chief in Denison, TX.

We accomplished much at Denison PD gaining statewide Best Practices Recognition. This was my 2nd agency to achieve that status. On February 28, 2019, I retired after 31 years a Texas police officer with the last 18 years as a chief! On March 1, 2019, my wife and I loaded up the trucks and moved to Colorado Springs! I loved being a cop but love retirement in Colorado more!

Oh and I still love and listen to classic rock!

School Story:

In Ms. Mayfield's Biology class - me, Kenny Sigman and Billy Perdue were all in her class and one of us was always getting called down about something it seems. We were also all in French class together - for 2 straight years! Lots of stories there too such as drawing weather maps - in ink - on a poor sophomore girl that was in our class. (Well, she let us!) The only French I remember is how to say "fish", "potato" and the phrase, "and you?" Haven't run across many French speaking people in my cop career!
